Morning Shadow - painting a day

"Morning Shadow" 5x7", oil on canvas, buy it now

This is the same tree I painted in "Long Barn", but from a slightly different angle, and in the early morning. And now that we've had a little rain, it's amazing how quickly little patches of green are emerging.

I feel the greens and purples in a landscape refreshed by rain. There is so much of a story in just a 5"x 7" painting. I weish I could do the same.
I went today to Yaquina Bay in Newport, Oregon and took some photos and did some black and white drawings but did not have the courage to paint a 5" x 7" painting in a small boat while we were putting out crab pots and salmon fishing. Just too much going on! But when I returned home I started an early morning painting 36" x 12" and I hope to retain the immediacy of your one a day paintings. I think that will be imposible.
